Fletcher-Pilates techniques : More detail
ABOUT THE TOWELWORK
Towelwork, unique to Fletcher-Pilates, adds richness to the existing Pilates work, offering a complementary repertoire that is taught entirely in standing. This thoughtfully structured programme, with movements increasing in challenge from simple shoulder stabilisation and mobilisation exercises, to whole-body fully integrated movement pieces, has applications for the whole spectrum of clients from rehabilitation to the advanced mover. It is suitable for private, small and large group teaching settings.
ABOUT THE BARREWORK
This rich, functional repertoire, all performed in standing, offers very specific movements for foot and hip strength and articulation and the mobilisation of the spine. The movements are as appropriate for the layperson as they are for the dancer. The majority of the Barrework can be performed using the end of the cadillac if a barre isn't readily available!
ABOUT THE FLOORWORK
Ron Fletcher combined and evolved Pilates matwork with Martha Graham Floor barre to create the Fletcher Floorwork, challenging and inspiring exercises to mobilise the spine, strengthen the core and open the hips.
